Stow Green, St Briavels

Also known as, or recorded in historical documents as; Castle Tump; Stowe Camp; Old Castle of Dene

In the civil parish of St Briavels.
In the historic county of Gloucestershire (Modern Authority of Gloucestershire, 1974 county of Gloucestershire).

Damaged earthwork remains a ring Motte. The motte is 25yds in diameter and 8ft in height. The rampart is between 3.2 and 2m in height and there is an outer ditch. The entrance is situated in the south side. Predecessor of St Briavel's. Probably abandoned before or during The Anarchy.

This site has been described as a;
Timber Castle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Certain.
Earthworks remains.

This site is a scheduled monument protected by law.
