Bledisloe Tump, Awre

In the civil parish of Awre.
In the historic county of Gloucestershire (Modern Authority of Gloucestershire, 1974 county of Gloucestershire).

Excavations in 1964 discovered C11-C12 timber structure, possibly a watchtower. Subsequently a mound 60ft in diameter and 7ft in height was constructed, possibly an unfinished motte, although there is no documentary evidence for one. In C14 a domestic building of Bledisloe Manor was built on the mound, which was used as a smithy until C17. The mound was destroyed in 1970's.

This site has been described as a;
Timber Castle.
The confidence that this site is a medieval fortification or palace is Certain.
Nothing visible remains.
