Tursdale Castle Hill

In the civil parish of Cassop Cum Quarrington.
In the historic county of Durham; County Palatinate of (Modern Authority of Durham, 1974 county of County Durham).

Durham SMR reads -The suggestive place-name of Castle Hill attaches to this field at Tursdale. No other evidence survives to establish the presence or otherwise of a castle on the site. Site of possible DMV. PastScape reads - Possible moated medieval manor house, possibly a fortified manor or pele, and associated with the Balliol family, indicated by foundation stones, the moat by earthworks. A bronze object of possible medieval date was found in the vicinity.
