Snotterton Hall, Staindrop

In the civil parish of Staindrop.
In the historic county of Durham; County Palatinate of (Modern Authority of Durham, 1974 county of County Durham).

Supposed fortified manor at Snotterton was taken down, except for part of the shell, in 1831, and rebuilt as a farmhouse. The Old Hall of Snotterton was a respectable mansion, in late Gothic style, with several triple-mullioned windows, and the arms of Bainbridge sculpted over the door. The walls had an embattled parapet, with crocketed pinnacles at the angles . The Hall is said to be of C15 date. Traces of antiquity may be seen in a mullioned window in the southeastern corner of the courtyards and the remains of a crocketed pinnacle on the roof of the west range of buildings
