The Norman Heritage 1066-1200
Trevor Rowley
Trevor Rowley does very well in his critical examination of the Norman Conquest using 'the solid body of documentary, archaeological, architectural and linguistic evidence available'. Castles were very much a Norman innovation in England and Wales and this is reflected in the high proportion of detail about early castles in this fine readable book.
