An important journal article with detail description of what a medieval ringwork castle is and the various forms it takes with examples of plans and a reconstruction and an attempt at a complete listing of all the Ringwoks of England and Wales. Unfortunately there is considerable debate when it comes to individual castles as to their original form so the listing can not be definitive.
